A man in his 50s was taken to hospital by air ambulance after falling in a car park at the beach.

The man fell just after 1pm on Sunday in the West Runton car park in Water Lane, sustaining a serious leg injury.

Ambulance crews, including the East Anglian Air Ambulance, were sent to the scene and were aided by members of HM Coastguard and RNLI Sheringham Inshore Lifeboat.

The Sheringham inshore lifeboat helped with incidentThe Sheringham inshore lifeboat helped with incident (Image: Steve Scarlett) A spokeswoman for the East Anglian Air Ambulance said: "Anglia One was tasked near to Cromer to assist the East of England Ambulance Service and the Coastguard with a man in his fifties who suffered an accidental injury.

"Upon arrival, Doctor Alex and Critical Care Paramedics Page and Chris gave the patient a full assessment and provided enhanced pre-hospital care at the scene, including sedation and treating and splinting an injury."

The man was then airlifted to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further treatment.
