A violent confrontation between two men resulted in one of them being struck on the head with a baseball bat and the other suffering stab wounds to his arms, it has been alleged.
Members of 50-year-old Karl Phillips’ family went to the home of Robert Wilson in Orchard Valley, near Halesworth in east Suffolk, at about 10.30pm after an earlier incident involving members of both their families, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
After arriving outside Wilson's home, Phillips allegedly struck him on the forehead with a baseball bat and Wilson allegedly stabbed Phillips on both arms, said Matthew Sorel-Cameron, prosecuting,
During the incident, Phillips had allegedly hit the windscreen of a car that sped past him with a baseball bat before being involved in the confrontation with Wilson.
Wilson, 33, of Orchard Valley, Holton, near Halesworth, denies wounding Phillips with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm and two offences of threatening Phillips with a knife.
Phillips, of Wenhaston Lane, Halesworth, denies wounding Wilson with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm, threatening occupants of a passing car with a baseball bat and threatening Wilson with a baseball bat.
All the offences are alleged to have taken place on November 16, 2020.
The court heard that Phillips told police he had gone to Wilson’s home after an earlier incident involving a member of his family and a member of Wilson’s family.
He claimed he and Wilson had come together and during the clash he had hit Wilson with a baseball bat and Wilson had stabbed him on the arms.
Wilson claimed he’d been hit with a baseball bat and had taken a knife off someone else and threatened Phillips with it.
He claimed he had blacked out and could not recall stabbing Phillips but accepted causing the stab wounds.
The trial continues.
