A man has been charged with two offences following a siege at a £1.5m country house in Marsham.

Police were called to Marsham Hall in Norwich Road at 7.15pm on September 3 after concerns were raised for the safety of a man living there and following a report that a woman at the property had been assaulted.

When officers arrived at the house, they reported finding a man holding a firearm while behaving in a threatening manner.

Several police units, including armed officers, trained negotiators, police drones and dogs, were deployed to the house and remained at the scene until they were able to enter the property safely. 

The suspect was not inside the home and a manhunt was launched to find him.

He was arrested in the West Midlands at 7.30pm on September 5 on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Thomas Daniels-Poulis, 30, of Norwich Road in Marsham, was charged with common assault and making use of an imitation firearm with intent to resist arrest.

He appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court on September 7 and has been remanded into custody ahead of his next court hearing at Norwich Crown Court on October 4.

A woman aged in her 50s was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The woman has been released on bail until November 10.
