A man accused of repeatedly kicking and punching a man as he was slumped in a doorway on a Norwich street has appeared in court.
The man in his 30s sustained serious injuries to his face and head following an attack on London Street just after 1am on September 5.
Brian McCadie, 40, appeared in custody at Norwich Magistrates’ Court charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and assaulting an emergency worker.
He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth and did not enter pleas to either of the allegations.

Josephine Jones, prosecuting, said he was alleged to have continued to kick and punch the man even after he was unconscious.
The incident was captured on CCTV, the court was told.
McCadie, of no fixed abode, was arrested on Riverside Road and is accused of having spat at police officers.
Magistrates said the seriousness of the charges meant they could only be dealt with at Norwich Crown Court.
He was remanded to remain in prison until a preliminary hearing on October 4.
