A Norfolk MP given the chance to bring in a new law has signalled he could use that opportunity to push for tougher action over water quality and sewage.
Norwich South's Clive Lewis secured one of the top spots in the random ballot to pick MPs who can present Private Members' Bills to Parliament.
The Labour MP is yet to confirm the precise subject matter and title of his bill, after he secured the spot on Thursday.
But his office has said the bill he tables is likely to seek to strengthen action in the areas of climate, environment and the water and sewage crisis.
Mr Lewis was one of 458 MPs who entered the random draw and is expected to present his bill to the Commons on October 16.
In March, former prime minister and then Conservative South West Norfolk MP Liz Truss put forward legislation to ban transwomen from female-only spaces, having secured a private members bill spot in the ballot.
But her bill was not be debated after MPs "talked out" her proposal.
MPs spent five hours debating two other proposals from backbench MPs, meaning they ran out of time to debate Ms Truss's bill.
