Plans for four eco-homes have been turned down after fears over access.

A developer named in planning papers as Mrs Ruff applied to build four "super insulated, energy efficient houses built to Passivhaus standards" on land at Brookville, near Thetford.

But Methwold Parish Council objected, saying the access road to the site off the B1112 Main Road was too narrow.

It adds: "The application states that vehicles accessing the development will have priority over those exiting the access road however, this does not take into consideration a vehicle waiting on the Main Road for a vehicle having to reverse 70 metres back down to the development."

Ten objections have been received. One states: "This will cause increased traffic next to four other road and driveway entrances, increasing the risk of accidents, especially with increasing traffic in the village."

A planning statement said the development would comprise three open-market, four-bed houses and one single-storey affordable property.

They would be built to "Passivhaus" environmental standards, designed to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

West Norfolk Council's planning portal says the plans have been refused.
