A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and of assaulting an emergency worker.

An eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said: "It seemed like there was a fight between two people.

"One of them had a bloody nose.

"He was kicking someone else lying on the floor, possibly passed out, while shouting 'he broke my nose'.

"There were security guards outside Gonzo's shouting at him to stop what he was doing.

"The person muttered something I couldn't hear before he walked off."

At the scene there was a dark blue backpack, tissue and drops of blood.

A police spokeswoman said a man "was taken to N&N but his injuries are not life-threatening".

A police cordon was put in place this morning and taped off part of London Street while a police car remains at the scene - which is due to be lifted later today.
