Police have bailed four people in connection with an illegal rave at a country estate which is believed to have been attended by 1,000 people.

Officers were called at about 3.50am on Sunday to reports of a large gathering at a farm in Euston.

It has since been confirmed that the illegal rave took place on the Euston Hall estate

Four of the eight people arrested have now been released on bail, say Suffolk police.

The police spokesman was unable to give an update on the four other people  arrested at the time.

Robert Childerhouse, the estate director at Euston Hall, confirmed the incident took place on the estate and there was only "limited damage" done.

He added: "The service provided by the police was excellent and they worked with the estate team to help contain and disburse the event.

"We’ve not had a rave on the estate for over 15 years, although we are aware they do take place in the Thetford Forest area on a regular basis."

Euston Hall is home to Henry FitzRoy, 12th Duke of Grafton, and his family.

The hall, built in 1666, is set in 10,500 acres of landscaped gardens, parkland, woodland and farmland.

It hosts a number of events throughout the year including the Red Rooster music festival.
