A Norfolk town is hoping for gold in a major horticulture competition.

Thetford recently welcomed the judges from the Anglia in Bloom contest.

The judges visited floral and fauna displays throughout the town.

Terry Land, a local councillor, said: “We had a fascinating and enjoyable day showcasing our lovely town.

"The vast improvement in places like Kings House Gardens, Thetford bus station, and London Road cemetery was immediately apparent – a testament to the dedication of all the agencies involved, our staff and volunteers.

"I believe the judges appreciated the sight of the sheep grazing near our Castle Park.

"I am hopeful for an improvement on last year's silver award.”

Thetford Town Council has entered the town into several categories, including 'Best Large Town' and 'Best Community Project'.

"I extend my heartfelt thanks to town council staff, councillors, dedicated volunteers, contractors, and partner agencies.

"This collaboration has enriched the town and community for residents, businesses and visitors."
