The family and friends of a motorcyclist who died in a crash have paid emotional tributes to him.

Stephen McKie, 58, from Ditchingham, died after his black Yamaha motorbike collided with a white Ford transit van in Beccles on Monday, August 12.

Emergency services were called to the junction of the A145 and Cucumber Lane at around 3.30pm. 

Police named him after receiving confirmation from the formal inquest proceedings and released tributes from his loved ones and friends.

Mr McKie was also known as Des and has been described as a son to Dorothy and Fred, father to Nikita, father-in-law to Jamie, stepfather to Leon and Evan, uncle to Courtney, brother to Karen and Jane and brother-in-law to Michael.

His daughter Nikita said he was "a loving dad".

"A passion that Dad had throughout his life was motorbiking," she said. "He loved his motorbikes.

"We take comfort knowing that, although he left us too soon, it was while doing something he loved."

Leon and Evan, his stepsons, added: "He was a true gentleman. So many memories made and shared.

"There are no words to express what you meant to me for being the dad that you didn't have to be, a beautiful person with a wonderful heart.

"We may not have been related by blood but you were the best stepdad I could have had."

His friend Nigel shared: "Whether you knew Des for two years or 30 years, I think we all agree that he was the kindest, funniest, most wonderful human being ever.

"Our lives are much better for having him as our friend."

Another friend, Eddie, said: "There was only one Stevie in the world and anybody that ever met him will know he was the kindest, friendliest man.

"He will be missed by so many and can never be replaced - ever. There will always be a void in my life without him.

"Stevie, I miss our riding adventures. Keep riding mate - one day I will catch you up.

"Love and miss you loads and always will."

His mother Dorothy said he will be "greatly missed".
