Work on a huge new project on the A47 has begun with the first closures starting next week.

The major £250 million project to dual a five-and-a-half mile stretch between Easton and North Tuddenham began on August 19.

Over the course of the next three years, drivers can expect disruption with the first overnight closure beginning next week.

The closure will occur between 8pm and 6am on Monday, September 2.

The works will involve improvement to the field entrances between Albatross Road and The Street in Hockering and the adjacent Blind Lane in Honingham.

A spokesman for National Highways said: "This is to enable us to create a safe entrance which will allow large and slow vehicles to safely exit the A47 at this point."

A second set of closures will begin later on in the week at the Honingham roundabout.

The work will take place from September 3 until September 6 and run from 8pm until 6am.

During the work, one lane will be closed with temporary traffic lights being used to organise traffic.
