A worldwide event that promotes sighthounds as excellent pets is hoping to smash records this year.

In 2023, the Great Global Greyhound Walk (GGGW) saw its most successful year with 458 walks across 36 countries, totalling 11,818 participating hounds.

Now, on September 29, the event wants to get even more people involved - including those in Norfolk.

Notably, Finland, Poland, China, Hungary, Greece, the Falkland Islands, Guernsey, and Mauritius featured registered walks for the first time.

The largest previous walk, where over 100 sighthounds participated, was in Barnsley, Yorkshire, with 503 hounds.

This year's theme highlights international unity with flags as the centrepiece.

The event, begun as the Great British Greyhound Walk by the charity Greyhound Walks, has grown more global each year.

Established by Janet Peacock, the annual walk's original concept was to enable sighthounds and their owners to unite and socialise.
