A man felt a "burning sensation" after he had liquid thrown at him by a 57-year-old following an earlier bust up, a court has heard.

The man and his then girlfriend allegedly had a noxious substance thrown at them by Scott McIntosh when they appeared at his door in Darrell Place, North Earlham.

McIntosh has gone on trial at Norwich Crown Court accused of two counts of administering a poison or noxious substance with intent.

It followed an earlier row at a property where they had all been drinking when McIntosh called the woman a "slapper".

Giving evidence on Thursday (August 29) the male victim said he and his then partner had gone to have a chat with McIntosh as what he said was "bang out of order".

He said they wanted to get McIntosh to apologise for what he had said.

After knocking on the door to the flat he said McIntosh opened the door and shut it.

The witness said McIntosh opened the door a second time when he "threw a bottle" full of liquid over them.

He said it hit his girlfriend "in the face first" but he "got the backlash of it".

The witness said "it smelt like ammonia" adding that it "went in my mouth and on my lower body where my waist is".

He said it smelt "very potent".

The man said it resulted in a "burning sensation" and burnt through his clothes.

He said it had gone into his partner's face "in her eyes" before she fell to the floor.

The witness said he called 999 for an ambulance although they both declined to go to hospital.

McIntosh, of Darrell Place, Norwich, has denied both offences.

The trial continues.
