A crematorium has donated £10,000 to a charity from profits made in a metal recycling scheme.

The Healing Harbour in Cromer and Sheringham has received the significant funding contribution from St Faith's Crematorium in Horsham St Faith.

Run by the Crematorium and Memorial Group, the nationwide scheme recycles metals that have been recovered post-cremation, including items such as metal hip and joint replacements.

The initiative operates with the explicit consent of bereaved families, with all profits channelled towards charities.

Debbie Leah, business leader at St Faith's Crematorium, said: “We are delighted to be able to help this worthwhile cause and see the benefit to the local community.

"The charity works to enhance the well-being of those living with health conditions that are life threatening or life-limiting."

The Healing Harbour charity offers a range of support and therapies for people living with serious health conditions like heart failure, dementia, and cancer.

Alison Brennan, founder of Healing Harbour, said: "This donation will help us to provide much-needed training for our volunteer specialists in these treatments and reach more patients."

The charity is also known for its gardening club, where members work together in a 'Healing Garden' at an allotment in Sheringham.
