A charity team from Norfolk is trekking 450 miles across England and Wales to tackle homelessness.

The group from Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney has set off from St David’s in Wales and is heading to their base in Ditchingham, south Norfolk.

The group includes four of its residents and the charity’s chief executive, Cecile Roberts.

Named the Walk of Kindness, the team aims to raise crucial funds and increase awareness of the escalating issues of poverty, homelessness, and housing insecurity.

Throughout the expedition, which will be approximately a 10-mile daily walk from August 26 to October 10, they will be following the newly-formed Via Beata route.

Intent on helping more people, the charity plans to launch a new social enterprise bed and breakfast (B&B) within their 19th-century convent-based site.

Income generated through one B&B room each year will offer a homeless person shelter and a support package at Emmaus for a year.

Funds raised via the Walk of Kindness will go towards opening the B&B and to support further Emmaus projects combating poverty across Africa, South America, Europe and the UK.
