Seven criminals jailed in Norfolk in week starting August 19

1) Hallum Elgood

Hallum Elgood has been jailed (Image: Norfolk Constabulary) Hallum Elgood, 38 and of no fixed address, appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to six shop thefts.

In these six incidents, CCTV caught Elgood stealing items such as pet products, laundry products and meat from shops in Earlham Green Lane, Lovelace Road and Colman Road in Norwich between July 21 and August 6.

Elgood was jailed for 16 weeks and handed a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from entering any of the East of England Co-op stores in the city region for the next five years.

Resul Rahova was jailed for 14 months (Image: Norfolk Constabulary) Resul Rahova, 30, Martin Biba, 61, and Gjergi Biba, 28, were arrested after getting caught transporting hundreds of plants and pieces of equipment intended for a major illegal growing operation.  

Officers became suspicious after a rented Ford Transit van the three Albanian nationals were in appeared to be dangerously overloaded in Great Yarmouth.

John Morgans, prosecuting, said officers discovered 599 young cannabis plants, foil air ducting and a large amount of growing compost, with the plants having a street value of £400,000.

Rahova was sentenced to 14 months in prison and his co-defendants received 10 months each.

Ancuta-Alexandra Ion (left), Grama Zorila (centre) and Ana Iosif (right) (Image: Norfolk Constabulary)  Ancuta-Alexandra Ion, 28, Grama Zorila, 31 and Ana Iosif, 28, targeted make-up and beauty counters in several supermarkets and high street stores across the region, including in Thetford and King's Lynn.

The shoplifting gang conducted a month-long string of raids in which almost £40,000 in cosmetics were taken.

They were finally caught in King's Lynn while driving two cars stuffed full of stolen gear.

Zorila and Iosif both received 23 months in prison, while Ion was jailed for 20 months.
