A conservationist and author aged just 10 has already penned three books.

Amaya Edwards was in Write Around The Corner at Hunstanton on Saturday signing copies of her works.

Her mum Colette said: "The first one's about going to the beach to save the animals.

"The second one's about crafty recycling stuff, making things like hanging baskets out of plastic cups.

"The third is all about jellyfish, it tells you about their life cycle, what they eat and what eats jellyfish.

"They can also live for 45 minutes if they get washed up, so if you put them back in the sea they just float back off again."

Mrs Edwards and her husband Gavin, who come from Leicestershire, own a static caravan at nearby Heacham.

Instead of building sandcastles, Amaya spends her holidays rescuing stranded jellyfish by scooping them up with her spade and picking up litter from the beach.

Amaya, who has autism, has a support dog called Boo, an eight-year-old Lhasa Apso.

Her books use Boo's adventures to show children how they can help wildlife and recycle rubbish such as plastic bottles.

Mrs Edwards said while her daughter struggles to communicate, she was unhappy with the rubbish people leave on the beach and the way wildlife is put at risk.

Her books are available from By The Book in the High Street at Hunstanton, as well as through Amazon in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia.

Some of the profits from each copy, priced at £5.50, are going to the Sea Life Trust and Caudwell Children, a charity which helps children who have autism or disabilities.

Amaya is now working on a book about seals, which will be out later this year.
