A Norfolk council has refused to explain why it is shutting members of the public out of a mysterious upcoming meeting.
Old Buckenham Parish Council has declared that locals are forbidden from attending its next session at the village hall, which is being held outside of its normal schedule to address an urgent - and unspecified - issue.
The authority had previously shared an agenda for the meeting, which included items such as the agreement of a new council email address and the opening of a new bank account, but this has since been removed from its social media pages.
Council meetings can be held in private when confidential information is likely to be discussed, but only in limited circumstances.
Naomi Bailey, chairwoman of Old Buckenham Parish Council, said she could not comment on the reasons for the meeting being closed to the public and could not confirm which agenda items were deemed to be confidential.
One theory among puzzled locals is that the 'news blackout' may be connected to recent heated discussions on social media about the future of Two Wheel Tuesdays, a large bike meet that takes place on the village green.
The event is organised by David Tranmer, proprietor of the Ox and Plough, who the council has accused of failing to repair damage to the land and submitting late payments for its use - which he strongly refutes.

The last meeting of the council saw around 30 members of the public turn out to discuss the use of the green by Two Wheel Tuesdays, which Mr Tranmer said went "extremely well".
It is not clear whether the council intends to continue discussing the matter at its upcoming 'extraordinary' meeting - an additional session to address an issue that could not wait until its next scheduled date.
Old Buckenham Parish Council declined to comment.
The meeting will be held at 7.30pm on August 23 at Old Buckenham village hall.
