Roadworks will send drivers on an hour-long diversion to get through a village after a closure leaves it cut in two.

Bungay Road in Hempnall is to close on August 26 until September 3 for "highway repair and maintenance" running through the core of the village.

An official 35-mile diversion route has been put in place, which according to One Network will take drivers around an hour.

The journey would usually take a mere two minutes.

The closure will be in force all day but emergency access will be maintained throughout.
