Norfolk police stations are to host an amnesty for lethal weapons ahead of a change in the law that could see owners jailed.
From September 24, it will be illegal to own zombie-style knives and machetes.
This is because they will be added to the list of dangerous prohibited items already banned, including zombie knives, butterfly knives, Samurai swords and push daggers.
Ahead of the new ban coming into force, owners of these weapons are being urged to hand them over legally.
Anyone caught with a zombie-style knife or a machete otherwise faces time behind bars.

Policing minister Diana Johnson said: “Too many people have access to weapons that can lead to devastating, life-changing consequences. There is no legitimate need for a weapon of this kind to be in our homes or on our streets.”
The amnesty will be run at police stations for four weeks between August 26 and 23 September 23 with anyone surrendering knives that meet the criteria eligible for compensation.
During this time owners of knives which qualify for the scheme are asked to complete a compensation form from the gov.uk website, and bring it, along with the knife, to one of the following places in Norfolk:
Great Yarmouth Public Enquiry Office
King’s Lynn Public Enquiry Office
Wymondham Police Investigation Centre
