British Sugar has announced its factories' start dates for the 2024/25 campaign as East Anglia's beet harvest approaches.
The sites at Wissington in west Norfolk and Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk will be the first of the company's four factories to open for deliveries from the region's sugar beet growers on September 16.
They will be followed by Newark in Nottinghamshire on September 23 and finally the Norfolk factory at Cantley on the banks of the River Yare on October 7.
British Sugar said beet growers, hauliers and industry partners have been advised of beet intake times at the factories.
Dan Green, British Sugar’s agriculture director said: “As we look ahead to this year’s campaign, we look forward to working together with growers, harvesters and hauliers.
"We’d like to wish everyone across the British beet sugar industry all the best for a safe and successful campaign."
British Sugar is the sole processor of the UK’s sugar beet crop, working with around 2,300 growers, mainly in the East of England, and producing up to 1.2m tonnes of sugar annually.
