Motorists are set to face almost three months of disruption on the A11.

National Highways is repairing the concrete road surface between the Thickthorn and Tuttles Lane Interchanges.

The project, estimated to cost £3.5 million, requires this stretch of the road to be closed every weeknight between 8pm and 6am.

The closures will begin on August 27 and last for around 11 weeks.

A diversion route will be in place, sending southbound traffic via the A47, A140 and A1066 to rejoin the A11 at the Munford Road roundabout at Thetford.

Northbound traffic will follow the same route in reverse.

A National Highways spokesman explained this work is necessary to extend the lifespan of the road and reduce the need for future repairs.

They added it will also reduce the noise coming from the A11.

The closures come a year after a £65m project to reconstruct the dual carriageway near Wymondham came to an end.

Work started between Spooner Row and the Tuttles Lane Interchange in May 2022 and overran due to problems caused by the existing concrete and wet weather.
