A man who was found dead close to the river Ouse was arrested a month earlier on suspicion of domestic assault, a court has heard.
Deividas Zableckas was discovered by a walker in a wooded area between the river and the A11 at Thetford on January 30 having taken an action to end his own life.
An inquest into the 38-year-old's death was held on Tuesday during which evidence was given into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The court heard that around a month before his death, during the Christmas period, Mr Zableckas had been arrested after allegedly assaulting his partner.
He was bailed following his arrest, but was not permitted to see his partner - although they did exchange messages during this time.
In a statement read to Norfolk Coroner's Court, his partner said that on January 27, days before his death, an envelope addressed to her in his handwriting was left at her home containing £300 in cash.
Three days later, on January 30, his body was discovered by a walker who alerted emergency services.
Matthew McKay, a police officer who attended the scene, told the court he had recognised Mr Zableckas from their interaction during his December arrest.
Yvonne Blake, area coroner for Norfolk, concluded that Lithuanian-born Mr Zableckas had taken his own life but that the evidence did not reveal his intentions.
She added that alcohol found in his system also prevented her from making a conclusion of suicide.
Mrs Blake said: "He was worrying about money and taxes and suffered the added blow of his relationship breaking down."
The medical cause of his death was given as hanging.
