A new Channel 5 show capturing the lifesaving work of local air ambulance crews is set to hit television screens tonight.
Rescue 999: Seconds To Save A Life will feature the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Magpas Air Ambulance as they take part in dramatic real-life rescues.
The new six-part series from BBC Studios Factual Entertainment will take viewers behind the scenes with body-cam footage of emergencies across the East of England.
From road traffic collisions to cardiac arrests, medical emergencies to accidental injuries, the air ambulance brings advanced skills, equipment and medicine directly to the scene of the incident.
Each episode features emotionally charged stories, unpicking the events which led to casualties finding themselves in the most perilous of situations.
Rescuers and patients re-tell the story from both sides of the drama as viewers follow an unfolding narrative of the rescue from start to finish.
Dr Victor Inyang, East Anglian Air Ambulance medical director, said: “We were pleased to be a part of, Rescue 999: Seconds To Save A Life, which shows just some of the incidents we are tasked to across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
"Our work is only possible thanks to our incredible supporters. We’re proud and humbled by their life-saving impact, some of which will be seen in Rescue 999: Seconds To Save A Life.
Filming took place between May and August last year and the series, which consists of six hour-long episodes, will begin at 8pm on Channel 5 tonight.
