Bosses at City Hall are unable to confirm when a £3.2m revamp project will be completed despite months of delays.

Hay Hill was previously set to reopen to the public at the start of the year but this target has been repeatedly pushed back and there appears to be no end in sight.

Norwich City Council announced in June that it was working with its contractor to agree a date for completion - which it is still not able to confirm.

Having secured £3.2m in government funding in late 2020, the council's revamp of Hay Hill will include improved seating, better-designed steps, plants and a water feature to create a multipurpose events space.

Work began in April last year and has brought significant disruption to a busy shopping area in the city centre.

Previously the revamp was said to be on target to finish in May and a council spokesperson said work was "progressing well" ahead of its reopening to the public - but this never came to fruition.

A spokesperson for City Hall said the authority was "expecting to make an announcement soon" but could not confirm a new target date for completion.
