When looking for a walking trail in the county many jump straight to the Norfolk Coast Path, leaving another north Norfolk route underrated and overlooked.

Paston Way is a 22-mile route that weaves between Cromer and North Walsham littered with some of the region's prettiest medieval churches.

The trail calls in at several of the region's most picturesque towns and villages including Overstrand, Bacton and Mundesley.

Ramblers can expect the trail to stroll down quiet lanes, across vast fields, along disused railway lines and take in panoramic views of the county's coast.

The trail takes its name from the Paston family who during Tudor times owned much of the land the route cuts through.

The family got their name from the village where the trail passes on its eleventh stop.

Make sure to keep an eye out for seals, with colonies often spotted basking in the sun off the east coast.
