The first American Day at an RAF centre in Norfolk was a "huge success" and it will now become an annual event.

It took place on Sunday at the RAF Sculthorpe Heritage Centre, near Fakenham, and just under 2,000 people attended.

The museum, which first launched in August 2019, recently relocated to a larger building at the site.

RAF Sculthorpe was open from 1943 until 1992 and it was one of the largest and most strategically important American airbases in the country.

At the event, there was live music, American football demonstrations and classic vehicles, including more than 50 American cars and Harley-Davidson motorbikes.

The heritage centre was open on the day alongside its AYA Café, which sold out of everything by 12.30pm, and American sweet shop.

Ian Brown, founder, said: "We are so grateful to all that made our first American Day a huge success.

"Better start planning for next year!"

The centre opens on the first Sunday of the month from 10am to 4pm from February until November.
