A charity which supports people who have food allergies will be boosted after a council chairman picked it to benefit from money raised during his time in office.

Adrian Tipple, chairman of Broadland District Council, said his daughter's experiences had triggered his decision to make the Natasha Allery Research Foundation his charity for the civic year.

Mr Tipple, Labour district councillor for Sprowston Central, said: "The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation’s work and research makes a huge, positive impact for those suffering with food allergies – my daughter being one of them.

"As a growing charity, Natasha’s Foundation does an astounding amount of work aided by donations and fundraising and I am delighted to be able to champion them."

Tanya Ednan-Laperouse, OBE, founder of Natasha’s Foundation, said: "We are delighted that Mr Tipple has chosen the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation to be his featured civic charity of the year.

"The unprecedented rise in allergic disease over the last 30 years means there has never been a more important time to understand what is fuelling the global allergy epidemic."
