Fire crews have discovered a body while battling a blaze at a house in Thetford.
The fire service was called to Bury Road just before 9pm on Monday.
After discovering the body, they alerted the police who arrived just before 9.30pm.
Officers have confirmed the death is being treated as unexplained and the scene remains cordoned off while the fire is investigated.
A neighbour, who does not want to be named, said they were awoken by "a rumbling" during the fire last night.
"I saw black smoke and there were ambulances, a helicopter and police at the scene," they explained.
They added the victim was "a traditional Thetford local" and "a good ol' boy".
