As the sun continued to beam down on Sheringham traders said that the hot weather had been good for business as families flocked to its scenic shoreline.

Today children could be seen playing on the beach as families and holidaymakers enjoyed the chance to bask in the sun.

As temperatures soared to 27C, traders were also benefitting from a summer bonanza.

Second-generation family business owner Layla Holbrook, who runs Aloha ice cream shop, said: “Sheringham is a magical, beautiful area.

“We had a slow start to the season because of the weather, I think people are going abroad more too.

“It’s picked up this last couple of weeks, the town has been buzzing.

“People are coming back year on year."

Ian Roper, owner of Tidal Wave Café, said: "Yesterday was a record day for us because of the lifeboat day. The 40's weekend and events like that always help with trade.

"September is likely to be busy here too, the older generation tend to come here after the school holidays are over.

"The start of the season was not great, the weather was against us.

"People are definitely more careful with their money now, they pick the days they come out very carefully, depending on the weather."

On Sheringham beach, people have been flocking to the sea to cool off in the heat.

Lewis, a Senior Lifeguard at Sheringham beach 15 years, said: "We are expecting very large numbers today because of the heat, we had a very busy day yesterday.

"Most of our shouts are to do with inflatables in the offshore winds, like we have today.

"It's a big problem, one of the biggest we have had to deal with in the last few years."

The seafront is set to get even busier over the coming month, with events such as the 40s weekend, Festival on Rails and Sheringham Beach Life 2024 drawing even more people to the town.
