Eastbound traffic will be diverted via the A47 at Thickthorn, onto the A11 to Thetford, the A134 to Mundford and then the A1065 to Swaffham.
Westbound traffic will follow the diversion in reverse.
It comes after a tank was installed in June as part of a drainage solution to help prevent flooding which had previously closed the road.
Due to the substantial rainfall in recent months, the road has flooded multiple times leading to several emergency closures.
National Highways has warned that due to the nature of the work there may be some noise disruption.
