A popular pharmacist described as a "stalwart of the Covid vaccine programme" took her own life while battling workplace stress, an inquest has heard.

Yin Chan died at her home in Earlham Road, Norwich in May this year at the age of 28.

An inquest into her death heard that the University of East Anglia graduate had been due to begin a new role at the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, having previously worked as a clinical pharmacist at the Ketts Oak primary care network.

The court was told police attended her home after her long-term partner returned during his work lunch break to find her unresponsive, having taken a deliberate act of self-harm.

Benjamin Stearman, a police officer who attended the scene, said in a statement the distraught partner had said in recent weeks Miss Chan had been "struggling with the pressures of work".

The court heard Miss Chan, who was born in Hong Kong and known to colleagues as Nicole, had spent three years working for Ketts Oak, most recently based at the Humbleyard practice in Cringleford.

However, she had left her role and was due to begin a new job at the mental health trust in a more senior role.

Kate Grantham, a manager at Ketts Oak, said: "She always seemed happy at work and was a stalwart of our Covid vaccine programme.

"She was due to start a new job and we believed this was due to wanting to progress her career.

"She also seemed to have a happy and stable home life and did not divulge any stress to her colleagues."

Jacqueline Lake, senior coroner for Norfolk, concluded her death was suicide.
