The managing director of Norwich Airport has teased that there may be up to three new destinations to fly to next summer.

Richard Pace revealed that he would like to see another two or three Ryanair routes added to the airport's roster.

The budget airline began flying from Norwich Airport in April and currently offers twice-weekly summer flights to Alicante, Malta and Faro.

He said that the routes had been very popular, with all flights boasting a capacity of 90pc or more.

When asked about future plans with the airline, he said: “I think I’d like to see another two or three routes next summer added to what we’ve already got, and we'll know that hopefully in September.

"All the signs, the way we perform, the way that the customers have supported Norwich... I see no reason why we won't see additional capacity for next summer."

The routes have been so successful that extra flights to Faro have been added to keep up with the half-term demand in October.

When Ryanair first started operating from the airport, the move brought more than 60 new jobs and the potential for more than 60,000 passengers to pass through the terminal each year.

Norwich Airport operates flights to 18 destinations in nine countries, with connections to 150 more locations via Amsterdam.

Tui is Norwich Airport's biggest operator by destination with nine routes in total.
