A man responsible for a terrifying series of knifepoint robberies prompting a rooftop stand-off has had his sentence hearing adjourned.
Leon Meminaj, 20, clambered onto rooftops in the Silver Triangle area of Norwich in a bid to escape police who had warned people to "lock their doors" following a spate of raids.
Emergency services, including armed response officers, a police negotiator, fire and ambulance were called following reports of a man armed with a knife entering Silver Road Post Office, Angel Stores in Angel Road and a store in Waterloo Road demanding money.
Meminaj, of Rouen Road, Norwich, was arrested following the incidents between 4pm and 6pm on June 23.
Norwich Crown Court for sentence on Thursday (August 8) having previously admitted robbery, at Angel Stores and attempted robberies at the Waterloo Road Food and Wine and Silver Road post office.
He appeared atMeminaj had also admitted possession of a bladed article.
But Judge Anthony Bate adjourned the case until later this month after Rory Keene, who represented Meminaj, said there had been a change of representation for the defendant who would need to be spoken to about his pleas and basis of those pleas.
Judge Bate said the case will be listed on August 22 either for sentence or a further case management hearing.
John Morgans appeared for the prosecution.
As previously reported, when Meminaj appeared for sentence last month, the court was told he had been released on licence from a period in youth detention shortly before the robberies after being deemed as not posing a risk.
It followed an incident in October 2022 when he had taken over the Great Yarmouth home of a vulnerable 61-year-old woman to supply cocaine and heroin.
On that occasion he and another man had jumped out of the window to try and escape police but had been arrested after surrendering to officers with tasers.
Meminaj, who was just 18 at the time of the offences, had been sentenced to three years detention in a Young Offenders Institution.
