An upcoming Harry Potter marathon aims to raise £10,000 for the Fisher Theatre in Bungay.

From October 28, Town Reeve Terry Reeve will host a four-week reading marathon where participants will read all seven Harry Potter novels out loud.

Each volunteer is encouraged to raise £100 in sponsorship and participate in at least one half-hour reading session.

Mr Reeve said he hopes to recruit a minimum of 100 people for the event, with 63 names already down.

He also expressed optimism for more participants once school resumes in September.

He said: “It should be fun. Most people in Bungay and the surrounding area will be Harry Potter fans, particularly as the first editions of the J K Rowling best sellers were printed at Clay’s in Bungay.”

He highlighted the importance of the initiative, saying: “Hopefully, too, they will want to support our wonderful theatre, and help to ensure it remains financially viable.”

Interested participants can secure their registration and sponsorship forms from the theatre in Broad Street, or contact Terry Reeve directly via email or phone.
