A water and chemical-free eco loo could be built at a flagship nature reserve famed for its spectacular bird displays.
The RSPB has applied for planning permission for the new convenience at its site at Snettisham, near Hunstanton.
It says in a planning statement: "The project will build a brand new, waterless, chemical free and electricity free toilet at RSPB Snettisham car park, free for use by all.
"Currently there are no permanent toilet facilities on site, or within five miles of the reserve.
"For many people – those with medical issues, school children, families and older people – this prevents them from visiting the reserve."
Some 30,000 visit the remote reserve each year, bringing an estimated £2.3m in tourist spend.
Snettisham is famed for its wader spectacular, when tens of thousands of the migratory birds take to the wing, along with the skeins of geese which fly overhead on their way to and from their roosts out on the Wash.
