A man found with thousands of graphic sexual images has appeared in court accused of forcing a woman into non-consensual sex over a 30 year period.
Rodney Johnston, 66, is also said to have exchanged messages with other men to organise sexual encounters with the woman.
Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told he had been arrested this month when the “graphic allegations” spanning a period from the mid-1990s to the present had come to light.
Prosecutors said police had discovered a huge number of explicit images on a mobile phone together with messages.
Johnston, of Rushall Road at Starston, near Harleston, faces charges including rape and procuring a woman by threats or intimidation to have unlawful sexual intercourse.
He did not enter pleas to the allegations that also include coercive and controlling behaviour and witness intimidation.
Magistrates committed the case to Norwich Crown Court, with a preliminary hearing on August 27, after being told the charges were either too serious or indictable only.
He was remanded to remain in custody after no bail application was made.
