It is more commonly used as a rude abbreviation.

But for two Norfolk authorities, WTF means 'where's the fly-tip'?.

South Norfolk and Broadland councils have launched a new scheme to encourage people to report incidents of fly-tipping and provide evidence that might help identify culprits.

It is hoped that the WTF campaign - which usually stands for 'what the f***k?' - will help stamp out the crime across both districts, where there has been increase over the last year.

New data shows the number of recorded fly-tipping incidents in South Norfolk has risen from 763 in 2022/23 to 782 in 2023/24.

Fly-tipping is punishable by a fine of up to £5,000 and the council is now asking witnesses to share photographs that may help track down those dumping their rubbish.

Keith Kiddie, Conservative councillor for Diss and Roydon, said: "We are committed to keeping the community clean and fly-tipping can be a major obstacle to that goal.

"Our councils are working together to identify and prosecute fly-tippers through this scheme."
