Council bosses are unable to give a completion date for a multi-million pound revamp of a popular city centre site, despite saying it would be finished by early summer.
Work to spruce up Haymarket in Norwich began two years ago and Norwich City Council initially said it would reopen by June this year.
But new signs put up around the site say the programme has been extended due to "additional work".
The £3.2m scheme will see the busy spot completely redesigned, including new wooden benches, flower beds and handrails.
The Thomas Browne statue has been moved to a new perch above the square.

It will also benefit from better-designed steps, walking links and a water feature, creating a space able to host public events.
And as work continues, people have voiced their thoughts.
Ledley Bevis, 20, said that once completed, the market should look "really good" and benefit the community from a social aspect.
He added: "I think what was there before was a bit of an eyesore but now it's something more open and fresh."

Paul Wiley, who runs CJ's Fruit & Veg on Norwich Market, said: "It looks nice and hopefully people will sit and enjoy it.
He added, however, that the revamped space will need to be policed in order for it to remain a comfortable and safe place for people to enjoy.
"As long as they keep it clear for families to enjoy, I think it will be a good thing."
"It's a lovely part of the city and good for tourists."
