Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash which saw a pedestrian injured and a car smash into a garden.

The collision in Beccles involved an Audi A3 and led to a man in his 70s being rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

It also saw the Audi crash into a silver Ford which was parked in a driveway on Banham Road.

The owner of the parked car said that the impact thrust his car into three concrete pillars in his garden and took out his hedge and fence.

The drama unfolded on Tuesday evening at 7.10pm with two fire engines, police and paramedics called to attend the scene.

Police have also confirmed that the woman driving the Audi had a child in the car with her.

They added that she had not been arrested and had not failed roadside drug and alcohol tests.

The male pedestrian was taken to Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, where he currently remains, having suffered serious injuries.

The owner of the Ford said he has had his car since 2001 and jokingly added about the vehicle, "She is not a happy bunny right now, but has done quite well for me".

He said he has been left "shaken" by the "loud bang" he heard while he was relaxing in his living room at the time of the incident.
