A male pedestrian remains in hospital with serious injuries after being involved in a collision with a car in Beccles.

On Tuesday at 7.10pm a black Audi A3 travelling along Banham Road at the junction with Coney Hill was involved in a collision with a man.

The injured man, in his 70s, was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he currently remains, having suffered serious injuries.

A road closure was in place while the injured man was treated and police carried out enquiries.

Two fire engines were in attendance at the scene, one appliance from Beccles and another from Lowestoft.

Comments on a Facebook post reported that there were large crowds of people gathered in the aftermath of the incident while the services attended the scene.

Police are urging anyone with CCTV, a doorbell camera, or who has a dash camera who was driving in the area around the time of the collision, to review their footage.
