Things are picking up for a forklift company after it invested £1.5m as part of the firm's expansion along the coast.

Eastern Forklift Trucks has opened its new 8,000 sq ft unit on Lefevre Way by the Gapton Hall Retail Park.

The firm promises a "forklift paradise" for people looking to buy, lease or train in vital equipment.

Managing director Paul Brierley said he has long aimed to open a depot in the town after he made ties there during his time in sales.

"It's a great place to be, but for years it has been difficult for customers to find anything local in the area," he said.

"We're very pleased to be on people's doorstep and our premises and yard are a great addition to the town."

Dealing in machinery made by the likes of Hangcha, Combilift and Mitsubishi, the firm also provides on-site training as part of their latest £1.5m investment. Seven new members - including two engineers from Gorleston - have joined the firm to help bolster its operation in the area.
