Internet sensation the Wealdstone Raider is urging football fans to head to a Norfolk pub for England's Euro 2024 semi-final against the Netherlands.

Gordon Hill - known for his catchphrase, 'You want some, I'll give it ya' -  posted a video on Facebook on Monday, July 8, supporting the Railway Tavern in Dereham.

The clip, which has had more than half a million views, sees the 58-year-old tell followers: "Brilliant beer, lovely night out, lovely food, great atmosphere. You want some? They'll give it ya."

Landlord Paul Sandford said: "The Wealdstone Raider is written in football folklore so to get his support is unbelievable."

The pub, on Yaxham Road, boasts a giant stand where up to 200 fans can watch Euro 2024 matches.

Ahead of the game, Mr Sandford has asked people to not bring flares due to safety concerns.

He said: "It was my decision. I didn't feel comfortable having flares with the amount of people in the pub."

Meanwhile, preparations for the game are "all going well".

The seating area is being extended into land belonging to the neighbouring business, Garden Tools and Engineering. This will create another 100 seats, bringing the total to 600.

The event is ticketed only - and as of Monday evening more than 80pc of seats have already been sold.

Entertainment on the evening will start at 5.30pm with Leon Mallet performing in the build-up to the match.

Spartek, the company which sponsors the stand, will also provide a £50 bar tab for six people whose names are pulled out of a lottery barrell.

The atmosphere on Saturday night, for the Switzerland game, was "amazing", Mr Sandford said.

Customers ranged in age from three months to 89-years-old.
