A man has appeared in court accused of the rape of a woman in a Norwich car park.

Daniel Thompson, 34, is said to have met the woman at the Qube nightclub on Prince of Wales Road on June 29.

Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told she had been captured on CCTV leaving the club in the early hours.

Lesla Small, prosecuting, said when her friends became worried for her welfare they had sent text messages to her phone and that someone had replied with a location stating it was where she could be found in a nearby car park.

The woman had been discovered with injuries and said believed she had been raped, the court was told.

Thompson, of Clarence Road in Norwich, was later arrested and charged for rape and possession with intent to supply cocaine.

The unemployed roofer did not enter pleas to either charges but his solicitor Matt Diss indicated he intended to deny the sexual offence.

Deputy District Judge Claire Furlong committed his case to Norwich Crown Court with a preliminary hearing on July 29.

He was remanded in custody.
