An award-winning Norfolk farm shop has doubled in size with the launch of a new butchery, bakery and deli counter. 

The Goat Shed in Honingham, located just off the A47 between Dereham and Norwich, opened in February 2021 following a £250,000 investment.

It now employs around 50 people and has won several accolades, including 'Rising Star of the Year' at the Farm Retail Awards 2023.

Sam Steggles, who runs the business with his wife Caroline, said: "Our humble beginnings in a garden shed supplying essential produce became a lifeline to local people at the height of the pandemic in 2020.

"We have carried on building that dream by creating a bustling kitchen restaurant and a farm shop."

The business has now expanded once more, with the opening of a butchery, bakery and deli counter in the neighbouring barn.

The butchery is stocked with meat from Norfolk farms and it will soon also offer beef from Mr Steggles' herd of Simmental cattle.

Everything sold in the bakery is made and baked in-house, including fresh bread, cakes and pastries.

While there was already a deli in the farm shop, this has relocated and expanded with even more cheeses alongside sausage rolls, salads and much more. 

Local cheeses include its own Wensum White and Norfolk Mardler goat's cheeses, Mrs Temple's Binham Blue and Fen Farm Dairy's Baron Bigod.

Mr Steggles added: "At the Goat Shed it is all about creating smiles through family, food and farming and we can now support even more local producers.

"I have to pinch myself when I look back on the journey we have been on - I am so proud of the entire team."

To coincide with the expansion, the Goat Shed partnered with the agency UnitedUs to create a new brand identity. 

The Goat Shed is open 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9.30am to 4pm on Sundays.
