An inquest into the death of a baby boy who died at just five weeks old is due to take place later in the year.

A court heard how Huxley O'Brien-Norton passed away at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital earlier this year on April 24.

The youngster, of Wilson Road in Stalham, had been born weeks earlier on March 22.

The inquest was opened this week at Norfolk Coroner’s Court by area coroner, Yvonne Blake.

The medical cause of death was given as "ascertained, as sudden unexpected death in infancy".

An inquest to determine the official cause of death will take place at the court later in the year.

In a heartbreaking fundraiser posted online, mum Beth O’Brien, described her son as “too perfect for this world”.

She added: “His big blue eyes would follow us everywhere, especially when his big brother was around because he knew that meant his little fluffy head would get stroked.

“He would melt our hearts every time we stroked his little face because he smiled with each stroke.

“Each day was filled with happiness, love, joy until day 33 when I woke up and Huxley wasn't breathing.

“It completely broke us and I don't think life will ever be the same without our beautiful little boy beside us.”

The NHS describes Sudden Infant Death Syndrome – abbreviated to SIDS – as “the sudden, unexpected and unexplained death of an apparently healthy baby”.

While rare – the risk of a baby dying from SIDS is described as low – most deaths happen during the first six months of a baby's life.
