A group that fights to support the health of one of the region's main rivers is "excited" to be launching its very first-ever beer festival at a former Norfolk mill.

The Mill and River Beer Festival in aid of the River Waveney Trust will be hosted by Grumpy's Cafe at Earsham Mill next month on Saturday, July 13.

From midday until 11.45pm there will be live music, food and a selection of local beers and wine. Children are welcome, ice creams and soft drinks are on offer from Grumpy's Cafe.

Martha Meek, director of the River Waveney Trust, said: “We are so excited for the first-ever Mill and River Beer Festival.

"It will be a great opportunity to spend a day right by the river at Earsham Mill with the wonderful Grumpys Cafe as hosts.

"The music lineup is great, the beers are locally brewed, there’s food and drinks for all, including the kids, and everything raised goes to protecting the River Waveney, the heart of the Waveney Valley.

"Don't miss it, come and let your hair down by the river - let’s hope for sunshine too.”

All money raised will go to the River Waveney Trust to help keep the river free of pollution and litter, improve access for all and take care of the waterway for nature.

Stuart Buck, the volunteer organiser of the beer festival, said; “The festival will be hosting four of the best bands in the area and will have a real Blues and Americana vibe, starting with JC’s Moonshine band then bringing in The McGuilty Brothers, The Treacle Miners and headlining is the Laurence Kingston band.”
