Many places offer strawberry picking over the summer months, but at this stunning Norfolk site you can create a bouquet instead.

The Garden Retreat is back open for its third year at Old Buckenham Country Park, near Attleborough, and there are more than 40 varieties of flowers to choose from.

From corncockles to cosmos, it costs £10 to fill a medium jug, £16 for a large bucket and there are also jam jars for children for £6, all payable by cash only with cutters provided.

The business is a real family affair and it is run by mother-and-daughter duo Claire Hornby, 57, and Jessica Ward, 29.

Miss Ward's daughter Matilda also helps out and Miss Hornby's father, who passed away in 2020, inspired their love of gardening and had a plant nursery.

Miss Ward said: "A lot of pick-your-own places have the varieties all laid out in separate rows, but this is a real cottage garden where they are mixed up and you can meander through.

"Everyone always leaves with a smile on their face after visiting us."

They also offer bespoke flower and foliage buckets for weddings and other events, which need to be pre-ordered as they are grown in another field.
