Expect coffee, cakes and community at a new business that has opened a stone's throw from Norwich city centre.

Flock Coffee House is located at 45 St Stephens Square, off St Stephens Road, in the former home of Littlehaven Coffee Co.

It is now run by husband-and-wife team Dale and Vicky Gedge, who live a few doors down and jumped at the chance to take on the site.

Mr Gedge, 41, hit the headlines in 2017 when as an off-duty paramedic he saved the life of Tim Warner, who suffered a heart attack just 200 metres from the finish line of Run Norwich.

Flock offers a range of coffees, using beans from roasteries Cuppers Choice in Sheffield and Kiss the Hippo in London, and the summer drinks include cold brew and iced lattes.

There is also tea, hot chocolate, focaccia pizza made in-house and sweet treats from local businesses Matilda Rose Bakes, Al’s and Brownies & Coffee.

Oat and soy milk and gluten-free and vegan cakes are available too.

Mr Gedge said: "I got into coffee around 10 years ago when I hit 30 and stopped enjoying pubs as much and would meet my mates at coffee shops instead.

"Flock is all about creating a space that feels like a community.

"I have seen that happening so far with like-minded strangers finding that they have common interests."

As well as opening a new business, the couple are expecting their first child next month and Mr Gedge also works part-time at the N&N Hospital and is finishing a PhD.

He added: "On this side of the city in NR1 a specialty coffee shop was much needed."

The opening times are 8am to 3pm Wednesday to Friday and 9am to 3pm at weekends.
