Huge events are set to take stage in a city centre outdoor venue this summer.

Chapelfield Gardens will be a hub for celebration this season, with live music, food and entertainment coming to the park in the next few months.

Norwich Wine Week 2024

Norwich Wine Week is back for a second year by popular demand with a festival in Chapelfield Gardens from June 14 to 16 and a showcase at various city venues from June 14 to 22.

There are bookable afternoon and evening sessions at the festival, with winemakers and merchants showcasing local and international wines.

General admission costs £15pp and it includes entry, samples and a goodie bag, with the option to add on a £10pp tasting tent ticket.

There will also be live music, food vendors and a bar for non-wine drinkers.

Fete di la musique 

The Alliance Française East Anglia is set to host its first Fête de la Musique, celebrating the city’s and region’s music scene and cultural diversity.

The event, which originated in France in 1982, encourages musicians of all genres and skill levels to perform in public spaces.

The aim of the event is to promote cultures of the French speaking world and will feature a line-up of performances in Chapelfield Gardens, on June 22 from 1pm.

Lord Mayor's Weekend

Norwich’s biggest free weekend street party, The Lord Mayor’s Weekend, will take place on July 13 and 14.

Crowds can enjoy the colours and sounds of the carnival parade, along with  family activities and an open-air music festival.

Hosted by Norwich City Council, the weekend will see the historic Lord Mayor’s Procession take to the streets on Saturday, July 13 with entertainment in Chapelfield Gardens.

The event will include a free-to-attend evening programme of live music headlined by the UK Foo Fighters and the Great Norwich Duck Race along the River Wensum.

The procession will include marching musical bands, acrobats, giant puppets and carnival flags.

Schools, community groups, charities and businesses will be taking part, with participants encouraged to come dressed for carnival fun.

Norwich Pride

Chapelfield Gardens will be the festival hub for Norwich Pride this year on Saturday, July 27, hosting two stages, a range of stalls and a food court.

The Marsha P Johnson Main Stage will have two sessions of entertainment including one at 10am to 12 noon, with a break for the March, then an afternoon session at 2pm.

The main stage acts will run until 6pm and will showcase entertainment from the Norfolk’s LGBTQIA+ community and beyond.

The Frida Kahlo Stage in the over 18s bar area will open at 11am and run until 8pm, with DJ sets all day, until cabaret takes over for the evening session from 6pm until close.

The bars will serve drinks from 11am, with last orders at 7.30pm.

The march will leave City Hall at 1pm, making its way through the streets of Norwich, heading to Chapelfield Gardens for the Pride Show at 2pm.

Afri-Fest East 

Afri-Fest East is one of the first and largest Afrocentric summer events in East Anglia, providing outdoor entertainment that caters to a diverse audience.

The event will promote and celebrate African culture through music, food, and dance with live performances from artists, a DJ set, kid’s activities and workshops.

A selection of food, drinks, games and music representing different regions of Africa will be on display.

The event will take place at Chapelfield Gardens on August 10 from 11am-10pm.

General admission tickets cost £16.96, young persons tickets (13 to 17 years) cost £6.13 and children aged under 12 years old are free.
